Job Post: Technical Assistance Loan Coordinator via Metro Community Development, Inc.

Metro Community Development, Inc. is seeking a Technical Assistance Loan Coordinator.
Position Job Summary: The position is responsible for developing and implementing SBA micro loan products to meet the need of microenterprise loans, interest buy-down products and other financial tools that contribute to the stabilization and growth of jobs in the Greater Flint Area, Lapeer, Shiawassee and Saginaw Counties. Develops business relationships with financial institutions, non-profits, CDC’s, customers; and promotes business by maintaining good customer relations for services. The position provides technical assistance and acts as the liaison to non-profits in the areas of SBA microloans and submits grants and reports to SBA as needed.   Community revitalization, and microenterprise development are ongoing objectives and require facilitating the process of partnerships and community organization.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • To be a team member of Metro Community Development to achieve its mission and goals.
  • Conduct the entire process of developing Financial Products and delivery to small businesses in the targeted investment area.
  • Submit grant applications to SBA, Foundations and other appropriate entities.
  • Promote SBA programs, products, and services to small business owners.
  • Implement SBA Grants, Foundation Grants, and Loan Pool funds from financial institutions.
  • Work in close partnership with non-profits, CDFI, Foundations, Local governments and other entities in developing the Business Strategy, Financial Products, Underwriting guidelines, Policies and Procedures.
  • Find potential clients, individuals or businesses, in need of loans.
  • Assist clients with applications and facilitate the loan process.
  • Specialize in commercial, consumer, or mortgage loans.
  • Often act as a liaison to the Financial Institutions and as staff person to the Loan Committee
  • Help clients apply for loans. Coordinate, track and monitor all loans.
  • Analyze and verify the application to determine the client's creditworthiness.
  • Evaluate needs of each potential loan borrower and propose solutions.
  • Provide post-loan Technical Assistance.
  • Plan and coordinate Loan Programs with Counseling Programs, Family Self-Sufficiency Program, Down Payment Assistance Program and Individual Development Account (IDA) Program. 
  • Develop information brochures and literature for Outreach and Marketing and obtain data for needs assessment to determine the development of appropriate loan products.
  • Participate actively in the community meetings as needed and promote Financial Products. Facilitate meetings as needed.
  • Must maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent human relation skills in dealing with various non-profits, businesses, church groups, and community development corporations, lending institutions, community associations and other institutions.
  • Submit timely reports to funding entities.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Know How:
  • Four year degree in business administration, Finance, Economics or related field with considerable experience in Mortgage and/or Business Loans.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects, meet strict deadlines. Ensure appropriate program guidelines are met.
  • Must have the ability of interpreting federal and state funded program rules and guidelines.
  • Must have excellent computer skills especially in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent human relation skills in dealing with various agencies and individuals.
  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License, insurable and insured vehicle required.
Accountability:
  • Insures that the planning, coordination and implementation of projects are effectively carried out.
  • Provides assistance in the planning process and facilitate meetings to achieve the best outcome.
  • Ensures that all channels of communication regarding operations are kept open by following through on directives, following up on assistance needs and providing a resource conduit for information.
  • Submit monthly or periodic reports to funding entities on timely basis.
  • Submits monthly and other periodic reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
