FREE EVENT - University of Detroit Mercy - Titan Tip Off
DETROIT (10/17/13) – After a pair of postseason
appearances for both the University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's
basketball teams, it is time to get ball rolling again in Calihan Hall
with the 2013 Titan Tip-Off on Thursday, Oct. 24 starting at 6 p.m. The
event is FREE and open to all students, alumni, and Titan fans.
Doors to historic Calihan Hall will open at 6 p.m. where fans can fill themselves up with FREE FOOD while renewing their season tickets.
The DT2 dance team will get things started at 7 p.m., followed by the coach's highlights featuring Titan head coaches Autumn Rademacher of the women's basketball team and Ray McCallum
of the men's basketball team. Ensuing the coach's highlights will be a
three-point contest for fans and the Titan cheer squad to hype up the
main event.
The center of attention and highlight of the night will be the
introduction of the Titans men's and women's basketball teams. The men's
basketball team will give the fans a preview of what will be returning
to Dick Vitale Court for another season of Titan hoops.
Last season was an all-around successful one for the Titan's basketball program. Led by head coach Ray McCallum,
the Titans posted their second consecutive back-to-back 20-win season
and competed in the NIT Tournament, falling to Arizona State, 83-68. On
the women's side, UDM defeated McNeese State, 73-62 to seize the WBI
Championship.
The season is drawing closer as the men's basketball team will host an
exhibition match against Lawrence Tech on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. in
Calihan Hall. The women's team will host Marygrove in an exhibition
contest on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
