Job Post: Welding Technician in Auburn Hills

The attached 4 types of job openings are located in Auburn Hills.  The employer is looking for Community Ventures qualified candidates which are those who live in Pontiac, Flint, Saginaw or Detroit (including Hamtramck and Highland Park) who are unemployed and have some barriers to attaining or maintaining employment.  The Community Ventures program has resources to help new hires maintain employment which in turn will help the business.  The positions are:

SUMMARY
Engages in setting up, programming, troubleshooting, maintaining fixtures, organizing programs, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, by performing the following duties;
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Other duties may be assigned.
·         Able to perform 1st piece inspections when required
·         Engages in diagnosing and correcting malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
·         Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts for welding consumables.
·         Modifies programmable controllers.
·         Understands and enforces all safety rules and guidelines in plant.
·         Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
·         Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
·         Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
·         Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
·         Maintains all records associated with the maintenance/tooling department including inspection documents.
·         Regularly meets with production/quality/operations to coordinate cell capabilities.
·         Expands the versatility of the robotic weld cells to accept all part numbers where possible.
·         Understanding MIG Welding parameters and specifications
·         Capable of programming Panasonic robots
·         PLC programming capability
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

17.    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Associates degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
18.    LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
19.    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
20.    REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
21.    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Forklift operator?s license.
